Ende gut, alles gut : Shakespeare... and company
some mid-fest updates:
1. Despite my prediction of imminent gloomy weather yesterday , the sun continues to shine - so much for the weather forecasters. Good news for Linz's kiddies who, according to the morning paper, have gone "on strike" along with their teachers. Aux armes, mini-citoyens!
2. On Monday, I wrote that the ferris-wheel on top of the multi-storey carpark next to the OK Center - christened the 'Anna Faris Wheel' by waggish CE-guests - won't be in operation till the end of May. But the wheel looks pretty much ready for business already, with the advertising-sign in the middle lit up last evening in pleasingly retro neon. Best advice, as always: keep watching the skies!.
3. On Tuesday, I noted the 62th birthday of Mr Iggy Pop. Two days on, my homeland is marking a similarly august festival: St George's Day is England's national day, but - despite also being the anniversary of both the birth and death of William Shakespeare - has never (to my knowledge) been a public holiday. CE patrons wishing to mark the festival this evening have a pair of movies starring our "teen Brando", Thomas Turgoose - whose breakthrough picture This Is England was showcased here a year ago. 22.45 at Moviemento is Eden Lake, while simultaneously at City Kino unspools Somers Town. Click on the titles for my Jigsaw Lounge reviews of the films - eagle-eyed readers may be able to identify which of the two I personally recommend you attend.
